Corey Heim's dominance in the NASCAR Truck Series is something to behold

0

When Corey Heim took the checkered flag at World Wide Technology Raceway on June 1, it was his fourth win in the first 12 races of the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. With 11 races left in the season, Heim should be in contention to win every one of them.

Of course, it's extremely unlikely — some would even say impossible — that Heim wins all 11 races to end the season. If he does, he'll have 15 wins in 23 races, which would undoubtedly be one of the best seasons in any division in NASCAR history.

Even though Heim will not win 15 races this season, his dominance is remarkable.

In 2023, Heim raced consistently, achieving 19 top-10 finishes, but he only won two races, a disappointing mark for a team that was clearly one of the best in the series.

Heim's next opportunity to win a Truck Series trophy will come on June 28 at Nashville Superspeedway.

In 2023, Heim led 57 laps at Nashville before finishing fourth. A similar performance could give him his fifth win in a season in which he has improved his racing skills and ability to finish races.

On July 12, the Truck Series race will take place at the “Tricky Triangle” at Pocono Raceway, where Heim led for 27 laps and finished second in 2023. Heim lost the race on the final lap due to a crafty maneuver by Kyle Busch, and with Busch banned from racing in the Truck Series in 2024, Pocono could be another race where Heim stays closest to the field.

For the rest of the season, Heim also has the chance to win races in which he narrowly failed last season.

In 2023, Heim has finished in the top 10 in 14 of his last 15 Truck Series starts. He led 18 laps at Indianapolis Raceway Park, 35 at the Milwaukee Mile, 40 at Kansas – a track he won earlier in 2024 -, 57 at Homestead-Miami and 47 in the Championship Race at Phoenix. He will likely be a contender again in those races this season.

Regardless of how 2024 turns out in the Truck Series, Heim appears to have a future in the Cup Series.

It will be exciting to see how many trophies he can win on his way to the Truck Series title, which he seems set to win.
