Local blues musicians play final jam session at Dreamland Bar-B-Que as restaurant prepares to close

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A weekly blues jam session that brings together musicians from different generations must find a new home after seven years.

Dreamland Bar-B-Que in downtown Tallahassee is closing Sunday. The food and atmosphere made for a family-friendly atmosphere at the Alabama-based chain.

The organizer of the weekly jam session told WCTV on Thursday that the closure marks a bittersweet turn for the tradition.

“You know, it's sad, of course, but I'm just so happy that we were able to do this. There aren't many places where you can have a jam session like this that lasts this long, where a family is created and hundreds of people are involved over the seven years. It's just magical,” said Brett Wellman.

You can see photojournalist Sam Thomas's full report on the latest jam session in the video above. Wellman said the sessions will return to The Sound Bar in five weeks.
