Many in the community said they knew Daniels from the football field. According to his coaches, he was a standout at George County High School who played at Ole Miss before transferring to USM in 2023.

In an obituary published by Moments Funeral Home, his family called him a “charismatic” and devoted son with a “promising future.”

“MJ had an infectious smile that could brighten anyone's day,” the obituary reads. “His charismatic personality meant that there was never a dull moment in his presence.”

Daniels' family will hold a wake on Saturday, June 22nd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the George County High School gymnasium, followed by a memorial service. His family will then bury Daniels in Merrill Cemetery.
