Microsoft's Sea of Thieves was the most downloaded PlayStation 5 game in both the US and Europe last month.

This is according to information from Sony, which published the monthly top 20 charts for PS5 and PS4 in both regions on the PlayStation blog.

While the company is already firmly established on competing platforms thanks to the perennial bestsellers “Call of Duty” and “Minecraft,” Xbox recently announced plans to release more titles for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, starting with “Pentiment,” “Hi-Fi Rush,” “Sea of Thieves” and “Grounded.”

Last month's PS5 download charts in Europe and the US each included four Microsoft games in the top 20.

In addition to chart-topper Seas of Thieves, Grounded, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Fallout 4 also appeared on both lists.

Additionally, Minecraft topped the PS4 download charts in both Europe and the US in May.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has said he would never rule out a game coming to another platform, and it was recently claimed that Xbox was considering releasing a remastered version of Halo Combat Evolved for PlayStation.

Xbox is also reportedly considering releasing Gears of War, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Starfield and Indiana Jones for competing consoles.

At the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, Microsoft announced Doom: The Dark Ages for Xbox Series X/S, PC and PS5.
