Countdown to the 2024 Arizona football season: 78 days until kickoff

To prepare for the upcoming Arizona football season, All Sports Tucson offers a countdown that includes historical notes and a season outlook – a great way to watch Arizona football during the summer months before fall camp in early August and kickoff against New Mexico on August 31st at the start of the Brent Brennan Epoch.

A REVIEW — NO. 78 ROB WOODS

Since it is the 78th day until kickoff between the Lobos and Wildcats, the best player No. 78 for Arizona is Offensive Tackle Robert Woodswho excelled in Arizona from 1986 to 1988. He was a late bloomer, selected in the fourth round of the 1989 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He didn't get a chance to play in the NFL until 1991, when he played in two games with the Cleveland Browns. He played in junior college and at Eastern Washington before coming to Arizona. Woods, 58, studied sociology in Arizona and now lives in Phoenix.

No. 78 in 2024 – OT GRAYSON STOVALL

Grayson Stovall

Stovall, 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, is in his third year with the program after graduating from Chandler Hamilton High School. He made two appearances on the offensive line during the 2023 season after redshirting in 2022. Three-star recruit by Rivals and 247Sports. Led Hamilton to an 11-1 record and a State Open Division semifinal appearance as a senior. He excelled scholastically, earning Academic All-State honors twice and achieving High Honor Roll honors all four years.

Football player from Arizona Keyan Burnett, Jacob Manu And Shooter Maldonado recently spent a week in New York City as part of the Hedge Fund and Wall Street Micro Internship. Brennan met them there, as he is pictured with them in a photo. The opportunity came about through Arizona's professional development team.
