Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Specifications leaked, could disappoint fans

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be officially unveiled next month during the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10. However, the full specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 have been leaked ahead of the event, and the outlook for potential buyers is not rosy.

There are no real improvements in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 compared to its predecessor.

Leaked specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 6

The specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 have been revealed by SmartPrix. According to the report, the upcoming device will feature a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with HD+ resolution (2,376 x 968 pixels), 22:9 aspect ratio, and 120Hz refresh rate. Its internal display is a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x panel with QXGA+ resolution (2,160 x 1,856 pixels), 4:3.4 aspect ratio, and 120Hz refresh rate.

The phone features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. It appears to have 484GB of free storage, which is 31GB more than before. The device will also be available in 256GB and 1TB storage variants.

It measures 153.5 x 68.1 x 12.1mm when folded and 153.5 x 132.6 x 5.6mm when unfolded. It weighs 239g, making it 13g lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

The camera setup of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is identical to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. It has a 50 MP main camera on the rear with OIS, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 10 MP telephoto camera (3x optical zoom) with OIS. The main camera on the rear supports 8K video recording at 30 frames per second and 4K slow-motion video recording at 120 frames per second.

It also has a 10MP front camera on the cover screen and a 4MP front camera (4-in-1 pixel binning with a 16MP sensor) on the internal screen.

Connectivity features on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 include GPS, 5G (dual nano-SIM card slot + eSIM), 4G, Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.3, UWB, NFC, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) Type-C port. It will be available in three colors: Navy, Pink, and Silver Shadow.

Disappointingly, the phone is still powered by a 4,400mAh battery, similar to its predecessor, so there probably won't be any real improvement in battery life. While the report doesn't say anything about the IP rating, speakers, fingerprint reader and charging speeds, they will likely be the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

There were rumors that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 would get a slightly higher battery capacity, but that doesn't seem to be true, at least according to this new report.

However, Samsung seems to be getting a slightly longer battery life out of the same battery capacity. According to the report, the Z Fold 6 can last up to 18 hours on both cellular (1 hour longer) and Wi-Fi, up to 23 hours on video playback (2 hours longer), and up to 77 hours on music playback (4 hours longer).

According to this leak (and previous reports), the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is thinner and lighter and has a shorter and wider display than its predecessor. It also appears to feature 4K video recording at 120 frames per second for slow-motion videos. It also reportedly features a titanium frame, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Leaked prices for Galaxy Z Fold 6

An earlier report said that Samsung is increasing the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 by $100 in the US. Below are the prices of the three storage variants.
