Ian Machado Garry wants to prove something.

The big main event of UFC 303 between Conor McGregor And Michael Chandler could be in danger, but all other fights seem safe currently. Among the many is the fascinating stylistic clash between top welterweight contenders Garry and Michael “Venom” Page.

A light heavyweight fight between the former champion, Jamahal HillAnd Carlos Ulberg is currently scheduled as the co-main event of UFC 303. However, that match is not scheduled for five rounds, and neither is Garry's. The undefeated 14-0 Irish star would like a little more time if possible.

“I just had a really good training session,” Garry said on Instagram (h/t MMA Junkie). “I feel fresh, I feel ready, I just did five rounds. I'm going to call Hunter. [Campbell] and the UFC today, and let's push for a five-round co-main. Let's push for it. This is a fight where we represent the Irish, 'MVP,' get ready for 25 minutes of pain.”

Garry has fought five rounds once in his career, when he won the vacant Cage Warriors title Michael B. by unanimous decision in June 2021. The fight was Garry’s last before signing with UFC. Since then, he has won seven consecutive fights in the Octagon, most recently at UFC 298 against Geoff Neal in February 2023.

Page, on the other hand, has fought three five-round fights in his 24-fight career (22-2). All of them took place during his time at Bellator. “MVP” won one of the three and defeated Paul Daley by a disappointing unanimous decision in February 2019.
