iPhone 16 leaks: Design changes, display, camera, battery, processor and everything we know so far

0

Like every year, Apple will likely release its latest iPhone series in September. With the iPhone 16 this year, Apple could make some major design changes while also providing a processor boost to handle the new AI features introduced with iOS 18.

The most important iPhone 16 leaks that we know about so far:

1) Camera:

Apple will likely take a cue from the iPhone 12 and use a vertical, pill-shaped layout on the iPhone 16. The new changes are intended to enable the standard variant of the iPhone 16 to record spatial videos.

In addition, Apple will likely also add a new Tetraprism lens with 5x optical zoom to the iPhone 16, which was reserved for the Pro line on the last-generation iPhone 15 series.

2) Design:

Aside from the camera layout change, Apple will likely finally add the Action button to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus lineup this year. Notably, the Action button replaced the mute button on last year's Pro lineup.

In addition, Apple could add a record button to all iPhone 16 models this year. The new button will allow users to take photos and videos while holding the device horizontally.

3) Processor:

The iPhone 16 series processors will play a major role in helping the new iPhones handle tasks related to artificial intelligence. Reports suggest that the iPhone 16 series could be powered by the A-18 chipsets, but the vanilla and iPhone 16 Plus variants. However, Apple could equip the Pro variants with an improved Neural Processing unit to improve the handling of tasks related to machine learning and AI.

4) Battery:

The iPhone 16 could get a 6% larger battery capacity compared to the iPhone 15. The iPhone 16 could come with a 3,561 mAh battery, compared to the 3,349 mAh battery of the last generation iPhone 15.

In addition, Apple will reportedly use a metal encasement for its iPhone 16's batteries, as opposed to the foil encasement of last year's iPhone. The change is expected to improve heat dissipation and avoid the overheating complaints faced by iPhone 15 users.
