Paper leaks have become a regular part of exams in Haryana: Kumari Selja

Chandigarh, June 8: Newly elected Congress MP from Sirsa Kumari Selja on Saturday alleged that paper leaks, fraud and corruption have become an integral part of exams under BJP rule in Haryana.

“NEET results have revealed yet another failure of the BJP government. The central government is deceiving the youth and playing with their future. The fact that seven candidates from the same central government scored 720 out of 720 raises questions about the exam results,” Selja said in a statement.

A committee of inquiry must be set up under the supervision of the Supreme Court to conduct a fair investigation into the case so that justice is done to deserving and talented young people, she added.

Her remarks came days after the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024 were released, with students highlighting the inflated marks and alleged malpractices in the conduct of the exam. Around 67 candidates secured the top rank in the test, including around seven who appeared for the exam at the same centre in Haryana.

Selja said that the numerous irregularities in the examination amounted to a game with the future of the examinees.

“The BJP has deceived the youth of the country,” she said.

“The news of a Rs 96 crore scholarship scam in Kaithal has opened a new chapter of corruption. On one hand, corrupt persons are lining their pockets with the complicity of officials, while on the other hand, the future of children is becoming bleaker,” the Congress leader added.

She also said that a Congress government in Haryana would investigate all such scams after the assembly elections (scheduled for later this year).
