A perennial UFC contender will seek a much-needed win against an up-and-coming Canadian looking to win the most prestigious fight of his life to date.

Calvin Kattar and Kyle Nelson will face each other in a three-round bout at UFC Fight Night on September 7. The venue has not yet been announced.

Two people with knowledge of the duel recently informed MMA Junkie about the booking, but asked to remain anonymous as there has not yet been an official announcement from the promotion.

Kattar (23-8 MMA, 7-6 UFC) of the New England Cartel is looking to end his three-fight losing streak. He most recently competed at UFC 300, when he lost to Aljamain Sterling by unanimous decision in a tough, grappling affair. The fight was Kattar's first since suffering a knee injury that required surgery during his October 2022 fight against Arnold Allen.

Nelson (16-5-1 MMA, 4-4-1 UFC) of House of Champions MMA started 1-4-1 in the UFC but has won three fights in a row since then. After decisions over Blake Bilder and Fernando Padilla, Nelson earned his most convincing UFC victory to date in March, finishing Bill Algeo with punches in Round 1.

The current UFC Fight Night schedule for September 7 includes:
