Mark Hamill stars in Oscar Isaac's Jesus Christ film

war of stars Star Mark Hamill has joined the voice cast of the animated film The King of Kingsalongside Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Oscar Isaac, who will portray Jesus Christ.

The three actors will provide voices for the villains in the film directed by Seong-ho Jang and produced by South Korean animation studio Mofac Animation. The King of Kings loosely based on Charles Dickens' short story The life of our Lord, which explores the life and work of Jesus Christ.

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill has high praise for a young actor playing the role of Young Sheldon after the series finale of the prequel to The Big Bang Theory.

The film's producer, Anfernee Kim, commented on the star-studded cast, saying: “This cast is packed with winners of every major acting award, and they all brought their best to a story that more than deserves their impressive collective talent.”

Mark Hamill will play King Herod in “The King of Kings”

Hamill takes on the role of King Herod, notorious for the Biblical massacre of children. Brosnan lends his voice to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor who orders the crucifixion of Jesus. Kingsley plays the high priest Caiaphas, who oversees Jesus' trial before the Sanhedrin. The film, which is currently in the final stages of production, is seeking distribution and is expected to be released in theaters around Easter 2025.

Hamill has also had a successful career as a voice actor, most notably voicing the Joker in various DC Comics projects, starting with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. His other notable voice roles include the Hobgoblin in Spider-Man: The Animated SeriesFire Lord Ozai in Avatar: The Last AirbenderMr. Salacia and Senator Stampingston in Metalocalypse and jumps in Regular show.

Brosnan’s recent work includes The Outlaws and HBO's “The Great Lillian Hall.” He is also shooting Steven Soderbergh’s spy thriller Black bag. Hamill recently voiced a character in the Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron and will be in Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Stephen King's The life of Chuck. Kingsley, an Oscar winner for “Gandhi,' appeared in the short film The wonderful story of Henry Sugar and will star in the Disney+ series Miracle man.

The King of Kings aims for a release date of Easter 2025.
