Sunny, hot Sunday in North Texas

0

NORTH TEXAS – We have another sunny, hot day ahead with highs reaching the lower 90s this afternoon. Great weather to explore all the fantastic hiking trails in the area. The southerly wind will pick up today, drawing in moisture from the Gulf, making it feel even more humid outside.

Unfortunately, it's another ozone action day and people with upper respiratory problems such as asthma should limit their time outdoors to the afternoon hours. The air quality warning applies to the metroplex and surrounding counties.

Monday is a repeat of today with morning temperatures in the high 70s, lots of sunshine and highs in the 90s as the kids head home from school.

You still have a few days of good mowing weather before the rain starts again in the middle of the week.

A few storms are possible Tuesday evening if they can clear the existing upper limit, but the chance of rain really increases on Wednesday and peaks on Thursday. Moisture from the Gulf will continue to move in over the next few days, increasing humidity and adding moisture to storms. Heavy rain will again increase the risk of flooding in the region.

We are monitoring the potential for strong to severe storms on both Wednesday and Thursday.

The midweek rain and storms will provide temporary relief from the heat. But we're back into the low 90s right now and heading into the holiday weekend.
