Piera Rodriguez says Ariane Carnelossi lied after headbutt at UFC Fight Night 241: 'You call yourself brave?'

Piera Rodriguez landed several illegal headbutts at UFC Fight Night 241 that led to her disqualification, but she still doubts Ariane Carnelossi is unable to move on.

After Rodriguez (9-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) landed the punches at UFC Apex on Saturday, Carnelossi (14-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) had five minutes to recover. Towards the end of this period the doctor informed referee Mark Smith that the fight should be stopped. Smith complied, calling the fouls “intentional.”

Carnelossi was not present when Cage announcer Bruce Buffer announced her the winner. She was escorted backstage and later taken to the hospital for an examination of her nose, mouth and head.

Rodriguez appeared disappointed in the cage and vented his frustration towards Carnelossi on social media in the hours that followed.

“I'd rather lose a fight because of a mistake I made than go home and call myself a 'winner' even though I know I'm a coward,” Rodriguez wrote on Instagram. “… I made a big mistake, maybe because of the adrenaline… But you have to go to sleep with this lie in your head all your life! @ariane.sorrisoufc and you call yourself brave? I hope you and your team enjoy my money!”

Carnelossi has not yet commented publicly on the matter. The extent of their injuries, if any, is not yet known. The defeat sent Carnelossi into a two-fight skid. Carnelossi is 3-1 in her last four games.
