Joe Rogan recently provided an interesting observation about the virtues of discipline and used a quote from Mike Tyson to support his point! The UFC color commentator is known among fans for his rigorous commitment to fitness, martial arts and his numerous hobbies outside of his career. Appearing on the JRE (Joe Rogan Experience) MMA Show #156, Royce Gracie and Joe Rogan talked about what separates elite athletes from average athletes. Rogan emphasized that the Dagestani camp of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev was the perfect representation of the focus and dedication to their wrestling skills.

However, Gracie interjected, “I do Don't think just because of their wrestling. I think it's because of her discipline. And I tell a lot of people that these people don't think about anything else. Just train.” The legendary UFC 1 winner then also pointed out: “There is neither the girlfriend nor the wife. They don't think about that! There is no celebration. That's all they do. Get up, exercise, sleep, eat, exercise.”

As the conversation continued, Gracie again referred to the Dagestani camp, emphasizing the fact that they do not allow holidays, birthdays or other distractions to influence their training structure and that this is a key to staying at the top for one long time.

This caused Rogan to exclaim“Yeah, you know, Mike Tyson said that. He said, “Without discipline, you are nothing.” And discipline is doing things you hate to do, but doing them as if you love them.”

Rogan's quote from Mike Tyson's quote not only illuminates what defines excellence, but also served as an inspiring reminder of the power of discipline in any pursuit. And as the legendary boxer prepares to take on Jake Paul in a boxing match soon, the podcast host has also warned the social media star-turned-boxer to be wary of the man walking into the squared circle against will kick him on July 20th!
