After a certain time at night, you really have to think about whether texting someone is worth it.

For example, a medical emergency? It's definitely worth it. But a GIF of a cat eating an entire jar of peanut butter…. Honestly, it's pretty worth it too.

But seriously, you never know if that stupid meme you sent will wake someone up and keep them awake, especially if they're a light sleeper!

So when this user was contacted by her “number neighbor” at 1am, she decided to give them a piece of her mind and make sure they never texted her again!

But has she gone too far? See for yourself!

If you're unfamiliar with “number neighbors,” it's that stupid Twitter trend.

You text the nearest phone number when you get a funny reply or become best friends or whatever.

Basically, it's disruptive for a stranger to get a reaction and post a screenshot.

And even though OP saw the memes, her neighbor actually contacted her too!

I had only briefly heard about it through the occasional memes they produce, but one of mine contacted me last night.

For some context, I'm an incredibly light sleeper and falling asleep is torture for at least an hour. I usually leave my phone on silent at night, but I forgot to silence it before bed.

This has happened before and it's never been a problem since the nightly texting phase of my life is essentially over.

Of course, her number neighbor sent her a text message at the worst possible time.

I was woken up just after 1am this morning by my phone ringing.

I check the notification and don't recognize the number. I didn't even make the connection that it was basically my number with a digit changed because I was half asleep.

The text simply read: “Hello! I’m your number neighbor.”

I was really annoyed, but I put the phone down and tried to go back to sleep (which, as usual, took several hours).

But when OP woke up, she decided to give her neighbor a piece of her mind!

I saw it again this morning when I got up and was irritable again. I decided to answer:

NN: Hello! I'm your number neighbor

Me: Did you really have to do that at one in the morning?

Me: Did your need for attention/something cute to post on social media justify waking up as a complete stranger?

Me: I hope 0328 (my other NN) is more considerate than you GIF of Tyrion Lannister cheering very unenthusiastically

Unsurprisingly, the number neighbor didn't have much to say about her answer!

Needless to say, I received no response.

My husband said I should have just left it alone because it was probably just a stupid child.

Did I overreact/AITA?

I mean, she didn't have to be so hard on the poor boy, but he didn't have to wake her up at one in the morning either! How did he expect her to react?

But TikTok wasn't so kind to OP, saying she sounded like she had a terrible attitude!

This user said that just because they texted you so late doesn't mean they expect a response so late.

But this person disagreed and said she shouldn't have to change her phone settings so people can freely text her after bed.

But finally, this person pointed out that our phone is constantly notifying us about something and most of the time the notifications are completely pointless.

I hate to say it, but I'm with OP!

Nobody likes being woken up in the middle of the night!
