Dashcam video from the cab of a semi-truck dangling from a bridge in Kentucky was shown in court Wednesday.

The crash occurred March 1 on the Clark Memorial Bridge in Louisville. The Louisville Metro Police Department previously said it was a four-vehicle accident and the driver of the tractor-trailer had to be rescued from the cab by Louisville Fire and Rescue.

Trevor Branham, 33, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, is accused of causing the accident, according to court documents. He was in Jefferson District Court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing where video from inside the tractor-trailer was shown during testimony.

WHAS11 in Louisville posted a video of the footage on its YouTube page. The video shows Branham avoiding a collision with a stopped vehicle, swerving into the path of the tractor-trailer and the vehicle colliding.

The semi-truck then runs into oncoming traffic on the southbound lane and drives off on the west side of the bridge. Then the semi-truck comes to a stop and the video shows the dramatic moments in which the driver is suspended in the air in the cab above the river.

According to court documents, the semi-trailer became caught on the bridge beam, preventing the semi-trailer from falling into the river. Police had previously said the driver's injuries were not life-threatening.

Branham was charged with four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, according to court records. He was also charged with operating with a suspended/revoked license after investigators learned his license was suspended as of February 2024 as a result of an indictment.

During Wednesday's hearing, Branham's attorney Scott Barton argued that the accident was a routine event that happened to attract media attention, while LMPD Det. Clarence Beaufort testified that Branham was driving recklessly before the collision, according to WHAS be.

“This is the result of an extreme indifference to human life that could result in serious bodily injury or death,” Jefferson County District Attorney Liem Sokhon said during the hearing, according to WHAS.

Branham's case has been sent to a grand jury, according to court records.

Branham partially secured his $20,000 bond when he was arraigned March 22 in Jefferson District Court.
