Players to watch at the 2024 NBA Draft Combine

0

Yahoo Sports NBA Draft analyst Krysten Peek discusses the players to watch at this week's NBA Draft Combine.

Video transcript

The NBA Draft Combine kicks off Sunday in Chicago with over 100 NBA scouts and executives. During the week, 78 players will complete practice measurements and two days of scrimmages.

As is the case every year, the top players selected for the lottery are unlikely to take part in the competition.

But this is the first year where every single player has to compete and many prospects have eluded them. In the past, Ronnie James is the most intriguing player.

Scouts and executives are eager to see if he performed well in pre-draft workouts while training with fellow Clutch clients Rob Dillingham and KJ Simpson.

And it will be interesting to see if he chooses to participate in the scrimmages and media availability during the week.

Another hot name joining the group is Minnesota guard Cam Christie. The 6-foot-11 freshman hit 40% on three of four attempts per game and has plenty of potential as a developing shooter in the NBA.

Christie is the younger brother of Maxx Christie, who was drafted by the Lakers in the second round in 2022.

Scouts are also curious about a pair of American players who chose to play a year in Australia in the NBL Trenton Flowers and AJ Johnson Flowers, a 6-foot-9 winger who was originally committed to Louisville before making his decision to go overseas.

While Johnson, a 6-foot-1 shooting guard, was signed to Texas before moving to the NBL.

Both players had limited minutes during the season.

As a result, Scouts and leaders who have not traveled to Australia are anxious to see how they compare to others in their class.

Each year.
