What does “upper or lower teeth talker” mean on TikTok? The bizarre beauty trend is taking over

0

One of the latest beauty trends to go viral on TikTok is the “teeth talker” trend, where people try to figure out whether they talk “up or down.”

TikTok has seen a lot of beauty trends over the years, some better than others. From drinking borax to detoxify the body to treating yourself to broccoli freckles, the internet has seen it all – or so we thought.

The latest beauty trend to take over TikTok is the “teeth talker trend,” where people try to figure out whether they are “top or bottom” teeth talkers.

Although the trend has been around since 2022, it has recently gained a lot of traction on the app as the “ideal” beauty results have changed.

What is the trend of talking upper or lower teeth on TikTok?

This bizarre trend has people lip-syncing to Daya's song “Hide Away” to find out whether they're speaking with a clear conscience or with a bad conscience. This basically means whether it is your upper or lower row of teeth that is visible when you speak.

All TikTokers hope they are top teeth talkers as it is seen as the more “attractive” option. However, this should be viewed with caution because when the first trend went viral in 2022, under-tooth talkers were considered a more attractive alternative.

However, according to facial yoga instructor Jennifer Joy, users believe that speaking with your upper teeth makes you appear younger as it is seen as a sign of youthfulness. As people age and their skin becomes looser, they tend to speak more naturally with their lower teeth

Thousands of people have participated in this trend and are expressing mixed reactions to the results achieved.

TikToker Max Baledge, who has 3.5 million followers on the app, was one of the many people who joined the trend and when he realized he was a deep speaker, he wrote: “I was convinced that It would be me.” I am a first class speaker and ashamed.

Max's video has been viewed over 26.2 million times and thousands of people have gathered in the comments to either complain about the nature of her teeth or simply express their confusion at the trend.

One person said: “lol. “That was my exact reaction to myself last night when I tried it out,” while a second person said, “I don't know if I'm a top teeth speaker or if I just have American Girl doll teeth.”
