Dannielynn Birkhead and her father Larry Birkhead head home after their annual pilgrimage to the 2024 Kentucky Derby.

Dannielynn, the 17-year-old daughter of late star Anna Nicole Smith, and her photographer father announced in a post on their joint Instagram account on Sunday, May 5, that they have completed their trip to the iconic horse race this year.

In the post, the two shared a selfie taken from their airplane seats and a photo of a sweet message they wrote to the duo after their flight was hit by some turbulence.

“On the way home from a great @kentuckyderby weekend. Since I'm afraid of flying, I got a message that I'm a good boy. Thanks Kirsten @delta,” Larry joked in the caption, tagging the post “😂 #flydelta.”

Every year, the Birkheads document their Kentucky Derby adventures on their Instagram account. Over the weekend, they posted photos of their traditional derby attire and their Barnstable Brown gala outfits, and even showed off the teen's last-minute haircut.

In an Instagram post shared on May 4, Larry, 50, revealed his fashion choices for the official Kentucky Derby race day.

“On the way to the @kentuckyderby with Dannielynn after a great night at the Barnstable Brown Gala and a quick haircut or two in the morning,” he began the caption, highlighting his daughter's shorter hairstyle.

“Dannielynn's dress was inspired by her favorite character Hino Eiji, Kamen Rider OOO TaJaDor combination – she let me write that 😆 – because that character had the same shoulders as the design of the dress she found! 🤷‍♂️,” he continued.

For the event, Dannielynn wore a bright red dress which she teamed with a floral hat, while her father wore a gray suit with a colorful tie and pocket square.

“Hey whatever works, just trying to pass some time as this weekend of traditions comes to a close,” the proud dad concluded the caption.

The night before, the couple made a stylish appearance at the Barnstable Brown Gala.

“On the way to the Barnstable Brown Gala to kick off the @kentuckyderby weekend,” Larry captioned an Instagram carousel.

In the first picture, the two were sitting next to each other and smiling at the camera. Larry wore a gray suit with a black tie and Dannielynn sported a high-fashion all-black look – formerly owned by Janet Jackson.

“Dannielynn is wearing her second @janetjackson outfit to the party that I got from Janet's @juliens_auctions charity auction,” Larry wrote in the caption. “I’m looking forward to a fun derby weekend with the new high school student!”

According to Julien's, the garment is a “black dress by Gianfranco Ferre that is knee-length in the front and floor-length in the back with zippers all around.”

Although both Dannielynn and Larry lead relatively private lives, the father-daughter duo share some of their sweet moments and travel adventures online – from Dollywood to Hawaii.

On Dannielynn's 17th birthday in September 2023, Birkhead paid tribute to his daughter in a heartfelt Instagram post.

“Happy 17th birthday, Dannielynn! I am so proud of you in every way. I wish you the best day ever!” He began the post.

“You're funny, incredibly smart, pretty and have just about everything I can imagine. Your mother would be so proud of you, I'm sure,” he continued, referring to Smith.

“Happy Birthday! All the best, Dad ❤️ By the way, when you asked me if you could live in my basement forever. I said yes, but I didn't have the heart to tell you there are no basements in Florida 😂 ❤️ # Happy Birthday 🎂,” he concluded the message.
