Preview of The SOURCE's 2024 blockbuster summer film

Summer is just around the corner – strange how time flies, isn't it? But it's time to prepare for a season full of blockbusters from action-adventure to romance and horror, as well as beloved franchise releases, across all theatrical releases and streaming platforms from May through Labor Day.

May begins with Universal's action-packed romantic comedy “The Fall Guy,” starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt (May 3), followed by the latest entry in the Apes franchise, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” (May 10). , and the month ended with the highly anticipated Mad Max prequel Furiosa.

June promises more excitement with “Hit Man” on Netflix and the theatrical release of “Bad Boys 4.” July may not feature another “Barbenheimer” showdown, but the highly anticipated “Deadpool & Wolverine” has something to say!

In August, audiences can enjoy a new Alien film (“Alien: Romulus”) and the highly anticipated remake of “The Crow.”

Here's a breakdown of the 18 upcoming summer movies you shouldn't miss:

“The Fall Guy” – May 3 – Universal Pictures

After leaving the company a year earlier, battle-hardened stuntman Colt Seavers returns to action when the star of a major studio film suddenly disappears. As the mystery surrounding the missing actor deepens, Colt soon finds himself caught up in a sinister conspiracy that pushes him to the brink of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.

“Tarot” – May 3 – Sony Pictures released

Friends accidentally unleash an unspeakable evil trapped in a cursed deck of tarot cards. One by one they are confronted with fate and fight against death to escape the future predicted in their readings.

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” – May 8 – 20th Century Studios

Many years after the reign of Caesar, a young ape embarks on a journey that will cause him to question everything he has been taught about the past and make decisions that will determine a future for apes and humans alike become.

“The Strangers: Chapter 1” – May 17 – Lionsgate

After a car breaks down in a spooky small town, a young couple has to spend the night in a remote cabin. Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike without mercy and seemingly without motive.

“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” – May 17 – Lionsgate

The young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a large biker horde led by the warlord Dementus. As they make their way through the wasteland, they come across the citadel ruled by the immortal Joe. As the two tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa soon finds herself in a non-stop battle to find her way home.

“Hitman” – June 7 – Netflix

Professional killer Gary Johnson breaks protocol to help a desperate woman fleeing her abusive husband and falls in love with her.

“Bad Boys: Ride or Die” – June 7 – Released by Sony Pictures

When their late police captain is linked to drug cartels, smart Miami cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett embark on a dangerous mission to clear his name.

“Inside Out 2” – June 14 – Disney

Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust all reportedly carried out a successful operation. However, when anxiety occurs, they are unsure how to feel.

“A Quiet Place: Day One” – June 14 – Paramount

A Quiet Place: Day One is an upcoming American apocalyptic horror film, a spin-off prequel and the third installment in the A Quiet Place film series. Directed and written by Michael Sarnoski, based on a story by John Krasinski and Sarnoski.

“Despicable Me 4” – July 3 – Universal Pictures

Gru welcomes a new family member, Gru Jr., who wants to torment his father. However, their peaceful existence soon collapses when criminal mastermind Maxime Le Mal escapes from prison and vows revenge against Gru.

“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley” – July 3 – Netflix

After his daughter's life is threatened, clever detective Axel Foley teams up with a new partner and some old friends to fuel a conspiracy.

Tyler Perry’s “Divorce in the Black” – July 11 – Prime Video

It's about Ava, a young banking professional who's heartbroken when her husband Dallas abandons a marriage she's determined to fight for.

“Sing Sing” – July 12th – A24

Imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, Divine G finds purpose by performing in a theater group with other imprisoned men, including a suspicious newcomer.

“Twisters” – July 19 – Universal Pictures

Kate Cooper is struck by a devastating encounter with a tornado and is lured back to the open plains by her friend Javi to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. She soon meets Tyler Owens, a charming but ruthless social media superstar who enjoys posting his adventures chasing the storm. As storm season intensifies, Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves in a fight for their lives as multiple systems converge across central Oklahoma.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” – July 26 – Disney

Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when the loudmouth Deadpool runs into him. They join forces to defeat a common enemy. Oh, and this is rated R.

“Borderlands” – August 9 – Lionsgate

When she returns to her home planet, a notorious outlaw forms an unexpected alliance with a team of unlikely heroes. Together they fight against alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find a missing girl who holds the key to unimaginable power.

“Alien: Romulus” – August 16 – 20th Century Studios

In the latest installment of the Alien series, young people on a distant world are confronted with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

“The Crow” – August 23 – Lionsgate

Soulmates Eric Draven and Shelly Webster are brutally murdered when the demons of their dark pasts catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Draven returns to exact bloody revenge on the murderers. He traverses the worlds of the living and the dead to set the wrong things right.
