A look back at Louisville Football's NFL Draft weekend

0

Louisville football had four players drafted in last weekend's NFL Draft and another five were signed shortly thereafter. In total, there will be nine new former Cardinals on the NFL roster next season. I wouldn't call the draft bad for first-year head coach Jeff Brohm.

Here's the total of Cardinals drafted or signed this past weekend:

Overall, Louisville had a decent performance over the weekend, and while not having a player drafted in the first three rounds isn't ideal, it shows how good this team was. Last year's squad wasn't made up of superstars, but rather good players all over the field, and that resulted in a 10-4 record. The truly exceptional and talented players on the team last year were drafted like Guerendo and Brownlee.

Isaac Guerendo may also have been a huge steal in the draft as his Combine results were very good and he will be moving to a system where he can succeed at an exceptional level with the 49ers. Jordan will likely find success with the Texans as well, as they predominantly run zones and Jordan was one of the best zone runners in college football last season.

Not to mention, if Ashton Gillotte had decided to enter the draft this season, he probably would have been a mid-high pick considering he was the best player on the defensive line last season.

It was also nice to see players like Jack Plummer and Storm Duck get signed as they could really prove their worth on an NFL roster if given the chance.

Suffice to say, it was a good weekend for current Louisville football alumni.
