The Google Play Store now allows users to download multiple apps at once

0

The Google Play Store has quietly introduced a new feature that will make users' lives a little easier. Android's standard app marketplace now allows users to download multiple new apps at once, eliminating the need to wait to download one at a time, which can be quite time-consuming, especially for large apps. However, there are some limitations to the feature and unfortunately, users cannot download 10-15 apps at the same time.

We at Gadgets 360 have noticed that the Google Play Store allows you to download two new apps at the same time. This means that if you install two apps, they will be downloaded together and not one after the other. However, if you add a third app, it will be moved to the Pending list and the download will begin as soon as either app is installed. It is also worth noting that the feature is only available for fresh or new downloads. When updating an existing app, it continues to follow the queuing system and downloads one at a time.

Multiple app downloads on Google Play Store

While this isn't ideal since Apple's App Store can manage three simultaneous downloads at once, it's definitely an improvement over the way Google has managed app downloads since the launch of the Play Store. Essentially, the new feature now adds downloads in groups of two. If users upgrade to a new phone and download a large number of apps at once, this could potentially cut the time needed to do so in half.

However, it remains unclear why Google decided to keep the limit at two apps. A possible reason could be to ensure less data throttling, as multiple parallel downloads can quickly eat up network speeds, causing all apps to take much longer to download than if they were downloaded individually. Another reason, according to a 9to5Google report, could be that the Android maker is testing the feature and plans to increase the number of apps that can be downloaded simultaneously later.

Google has been busy at work as its annual developer conference Google I/O will take place on May 14 and the company is expected to unveil Android 15 during the keynote session. According to a report, one of the new features the tech giant could add is NFC wireless charging, which would allow users to charge devices that don't have a built-in wireless charging solution but do have NFC support.
