State police appeal for witnesses after fatal hit-and-run accident in Harbeson – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a man dead this morning.

On April 19, 2024, at approximately 2:18 a.m., a silver car was traveling north on Harbeson Road just north of Lewes-Georgetown Highway. At the same time, a pedestrian was in the northbound lane of Harbeson Road for reasons still under investigation. The pedestrian was hit by the silver car. A short time later, a smaller white SUV, also traveling north, struck the pedestrian. Both vehicles left the scene of the accident.

The victim, a 28-year-old Seaford man, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. His name is being withheld until his family has been notified.

No surveillance video or images of the vehicles are currently available.

Harbeson Road was closed for approximately four hours while investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed this crash or have additional information to contact Corporal K. Argo at (302) 703-3264.
