Miami University football coach Chuck Martin gets a contract extension after winning 11 games this season

OXFORD, Ohio On Thursday, April 11, Miami athletics director David Sayler made the announcement Chuck Martin has agreed to a five-year contract extension through the 2029 football season. Last year, Martin was named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year award after leading the RedHawks to an 11-3 season that included a win over Toledo in the MAC Championship Game.

The 11-win season, the second-most in program history, included rivalry wins over Cincinnati, Ohio and Ball State as Miami defeated a Power Five team on the road for the second straight year. Since 2016, Miami has a conference-best 42-17 record against MAC schools over the last eight years, which includes a second MAC championship for Martin in 2019.

Overall, Martin's 56 career Miami wins trail only Randy Walker (59), helping the RedHawks to bowl eligibility in seven of the last eight seasons (including a win in the 2021 Frisco Football Classic). “I am proud of the success and growth of Miami football under Coach Martin’s leadership,” said Sayler. “He has brought our program back to the top of the Mid-American Conference multiple times and I look forward to him and his staff building on the RedHawks’ historic season last year. Our future is bright and so is Miami Football. “The program truly embodies our mission of Graduating Champions.” Martin has also helped organize some of the best recruiting classes in recent memory. Over the past eight seasons, Miami's classes have finished first or second among MAC competitors six times. The RedHawks program has also produced three NFL draft picks since 2019.
