Dray hilariously rejects 'splash cousin' tag after 3-point outburst originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

As Draymond Green's 3-point burst in the Warriors' 134-120 win over the Lakers on Tuesday night in Los Angeles flooded the “Backpack Draymond” memes, a new nickname emerged on the TNT broadcast.

Reggie Miller referred to Green as the “Splash Cousin” and associated him with his sharpshooting teammates Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, also known as the “Splash Bros.”

Green kindly declined to be part of the Splash family.

“I appreciate the compliment, but I don’t want that pressure,” Green told TNT’s Chris Haynes with a laugh after the game. “I don’t need that pressure, the way the boys shoot the ball. I had one night. I’ll take my night, but I don’t need this pressure.”

The Splash Bros have been torching opposing defenses from off the field for more than a decade. But the Lakers, who played without superstar center Anthony Davis on Tuesday, had to contend with another problem.

Green knocked down five treys in the first half alone, sparking a historic shooting night for Golden State under the bright Hollywood lights.

Curry added six triples while Thompson contributed five.

Green may have rejected any affiliation with the Splash family, but his 3-point shooting has undeniably become vital to the Warriors' growth and success.
