VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Conor Garland scored two goals and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on Monday night.

Quinn Hughes and Brock Boeser each had a goal and an assist for the Canucks, and JT Miller had three assists. Arturs Silovs finished with 20 saves in his third start of the season.

Jack Eichel scored two goals and Noah Hanifin had a goal and an assist for Vegas. Logan Thompson finished the game with 26 saves.

The Canucks remain atop the Pacific Division by five points over the Edmonton Oilers, while the Golden Knights retain the Western Conference's second wild card.

Both teams used their special teams, with Vancouver going 2-for-3 with the man advantage and Vegas going 2-for-4.

The Golden Knights called a timeout with 1:55 left and subbed Thompson in favor of an extra fielder. Elias Pettersson sent a clearance attempt over the boards near the penalty area, and the puck ricocheted across the ice, narrowly missing the far post of the empty Vegas net.

Eichel scored the first goal on a power play 1:51 into the game when he fired a shot from high position and the puck bounced off Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov's leg before sailing across Silovs' left field.

Eichel made the final score 2-0 after 8:06 with his second goal of the evening and his 29th of the season. Jonathan Marchessault bypassed Pettersson and played a pass across to Eichel. Eichel stood alone at the bottom of the faceoff circle and fired a shot past Silovs.

The Canucks got on the scoreboard with a power play goal when Hughes fired a shot toward the Vegas net and while Thompson stopped the first shot, Garland got to the loose puck and pushed it into the net from the side of the goal crease for the Making it 2-0 -1 with 8:10 remaining in the first game. It was his 100th goal of the regular season.

Hughes tied the score with 5:34 left in the opening period when his shot from just inside the blue line went through traffic and beat Thomspon for his 17th goal.

Hanifin regained the lead for the Golden Knights for the 13th time on the power play at 9:33 of the second. Tomas Hertl, who made his Vegas debut after being acquired from San Jose on March 8, had an assist on the game.

Boeser equalized 3:3 with 6:50 left in the second half with a shot from a high position. It was his 40th win of the season and was the first time Boeser reached this milestone.

The Canucks took their first lead of the night with 89 seconds left in the second. Thompson stopped a shot from Miller but couldn't hold on to the puck, and Garland – playing in his 400th NHL game – came around the net and scored his second goal of the night and 18th of the season.
