A clay mask can be as simple as this:
1. Mix a tablespoon of clay with enough water to make a smooth, creamy paste.
2. Apply a thick layer of this clay paste to your face.
3. Leave the clay on your face for five to ten minutes, spritzing occasionally with water or a hydrosol.
4. Make sure the mask doesn’t dry completely; not only does the clay not release beneficial minerals when it is dry, but it also starts to draw out moisture from the skin.
5. Rinse and finish rinsing with cold water.
6. Moisturize your skin with your favourite cream or lotion.
You can also add a few drops of essential oils with properties appropriate for your skin type.
You can also add a vegetable oil; the emollient nature of the oil will compensate for the drying effect of the clay.

Minute face mask for mature skin
- 20 g of yellow clay
- 17 g of carrot seed hydrosol
- 1 g of rosehip oil or jojoba
- Essential oils (optionnal): 4 drops of cistus essential oil and 10 drops of true lavender essential oil
Minute face mask for oily or acne-prone skin
- 20 g of red or green clay
- 17 g of rose geranium hydrosol
- 1 g of tamanu oil
- Essential oil (optionnal): 4 drops of Atlas cedar essential oil and 6 drops ofbergamot essential oil
Minute face mask for mixed skin
- 20 g of ghassoul or white clay
- 17 g of Damascus rose hydrosol
- 1 g of hazelnut oil or jojoba oil
- Essential oils (optionnal): 8 drops of rosemary verbenone essential oil
