Good to know!

  • We chose to use lanolin as it stabilizes the shaving cream and will protect your skin against irritation. The shea butter will both protect and nourish your skin. We use zinc oxide to benefit from its purifying properties and colloidal oatmeal for soothing.
  • If you would prefer a thicker texture, you can omit the 99% aloe gelly and replace it with an additional 6 g of castor oil and 7 g of jojoba oil in the oil phase. If you choose this option, we advise you to store your homemade shaving cream in a wide mouth canning jar

Steps to follow

  1. Prepare and disinfect your equipment and workspace.
  2. Weigh the oil phase ingredients in a bowl. Melt gently on the double boiler. The temperature of the oil phase should reach but not exceed 60°C.
  3. While the oils and butters are melting, weigh the aqueous phase ingredients in a second bowl. Disperse the powders into the soap using the mini spatula; stir very gently to avoid foaming.
  4. Weigh the cooling phase ingredients in a ramekin. Set aside.homemade shaving cream
  5. Gently heat the aqueous phase on the double boiler, while mixing with the mini spatula so that the powders do not stick to the walls. The temperature of the aqueous phase should not exceed 50°C.
  6. When the oil phase has reached 60°C, pour the aqueous phase into the oil phase while mixing with the mini-mixer. Remove from heat.diy shaving cream
  7. Mix with the mini-mixer until a thick paste is obtained. Set the mini-mixer aside and continue to mix with the electric mixer.
  8. When the temperature of the mixture has cooled to 45°C, add the cooling phase. Continue to mix with the electric mixer until the texture is homogeneous.shaving cream step by step
