Good to know!

  • We strongly advise against substituting any ingredients in this face cream recipe, as this may affect the texture, stability, or colour of the final product. However, you can replace the rose hydrosol with another hydrosol, or the rosewood essential oil with another essential oil, in the same quantities.
  • Rosewood essential oil has revitalizing properties. It can be replaced by ho wood essential oil, which is similar but less costly. If you’d like to use another essential oil, keep in mind that some essential oils are dermocaustic or photosensitizing. Dermocaustic essential oils should make up no more than 0.5% of your recipe; if you use photosensitizing essential oils, you will need to avoid sun exposure after applying your cream.
  • We chose Damascus rose hydrosol for its wonderful toning and soothing properties.
  • Gum arabic has a skin-firming effect.
  • Sea buckthorn oil is rich in antioxidants and has revitalizing properties. It also contains lots of beta-carotene, which gives the oil its lovely orange colour and gives you a healthy glow!
  • Argan oil improves your skin’s elasticity and helps fight the effects of time.
  • Shea butter has revitalizing, nourishing, and softening properties.
  • Rosehip oil is restorative and revitalizing, making it a great choice for mature skin. Because it’s heat-sensitive, we add it to the cooling phase in this recipe.

Steps to follow

  1. Prepare and disinfect your equipment and workspace.
  2. Weigh the hydrosol in a small bowl and heat it on the first double boiler. It needs to reach a temperature of 70–80°C.homemade face cream for aging skin
  3. Weigh the oil phase ingredients in the second small bowl. Heat it on the second double boiler until the butter has melted and the mixture has reached 70–80°C.
  4. Weigh the glycerin and gum arabic in a ramekin, mix with the mini-mixer, and set aside.
  5. Weigh the cooling phase ingredients in a second ramekin.
  6. When the hydrosol has reached 70–80°C, add the glycerin-gum mixture. Mix well, leaving the bowl on the heat.making face cream for mature skin
