Avoid using aluminum containers when working with clay as aluminum can alter its properties. Favour wood, glass, or stainless steel implements instead.
Is only your T-zone oily? Try applying the face mask for oily skin just to your T-zone and use the treatment mask for tired skin on the rest of your face!
Steps to follow
- Prepare and sterilize your equipment and workspace.
- Weigh the dried flowers or petals for your recipe. Crush with a mortar and pestle or a coffee grinder.
- Weigh all the powder ingredients in a bowl. Mix together.
- Weigh all the liquid ingredients in a ramekin. Mix together.
- Add the liquid ingredients to the powders and mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to the pot. Your homemade face mask is now ready!
Use and conservation
To use your DIY face mask, mix the powders with water or a hydrosol to form a paste (you can learn how to choose the right hydrosol here). Apply mask to clean skin and let set for 5 minutes. Careful, do not let the mask dry on your skin; spray mask with water or a hydrosol as necessary. Gently rinse your skin with clean water and apply a hydrating cream or lotion.
If stored in a dry place and made in optimal sanitary conditions, your homemade dried flower face mask should keep for 6 months to 1 year.
